‘Hurray’: $300K agreement is first step on road to Lycoming County coroner building

In a move that Lycoming County Coroner Charles Kiessling said marks the first step in the process, the commissioners approved a $310,500 agreement with W2A Architects to design a new coroner's building.
"Hurray," Kiessling said, adding that the move is a "long time coming."
The coroner has long advocated for a larger and more efficient space for housing administrative offices, a morgue, vehicles, equipment and a regional autopsy center.
He told commissioners that he felt W2A Architects are the right choice for the design work.
"I think we all agree that this company has expertise," Commissioner Rick Mirabito said.
In another matter, commissioners approved change orders with R&L Development Co. in the amounts of $157,164 and $68,350 for the closure project of the county landfill.
In addition, commissioners approved the purchase of transmission replacement at $24,950 from Susquehanna Motor Co. for a transfer station truck.
Tom Schaech, of Muncy Township, told commissioners he is concerned about alleged election violations in his community.
He said board of elections officials have not responded to his inquiries into the matter.
"We believe that issues are going on that have not been addressed," he said.
The next commissioners meeting is set for 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at Executive Plaza, 330 Pine St., Williamsport.
