Lycoming County’s move to Third Street Plaza advances

Renovations to the third floor of the Third Street Plaza will now be going out for bid following approval by the Lycoming County commissioned of the action which makes their move to the location one step closer.

Last month, the commissioners finalized the sale of Executive Plaza, the current site of their offices, to Horizon Federal Credit Union. County must move their offices out of that building by the end of the year.

"We're requesting permission to be able to put this project out to bid so we can get moving on this phase," Tony Visco, architect for the project told the commissioners.

"We are currently developing and have completed the design renovations for the first floor and also will shortly be looking at some of the improvements for handicap accessibility, making the property itself more handicap-friendly as well," he added.

In other business, under personnel, the commissioners approved hiring: Andre King, full-time replacement resident supervisor I at the Pre-Release Center, $18.10 per hour; Casey Sheleman, part-time replacement resident supervisor I at the Pre-Release Center, $18.70 per hour; Adam Moser, full-time replacement recycling laborer at Resource Management Services, $14.50 per hour; and Andrea Hammond, full-time replacement clerk IV at the assessment office, $17.33 per hour.

It was reported that there are still 23 openings at the county, with five of those at the prison.

In other actions, the commissioners approved an agreement with Cornell Abraxas Group LLC for various programs for Juvenile Probation, and the purchase of a Unified Power System for the the Courthouse from ePlus Technology Inc. at a cost of $46,463. The system is used in case of a power outage until the generator kicks in.

The next commissioners' meeting will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, Executive Plaza, 330 Pine St.
