Two passengers riding in an Acura TLX were taken to UPMC Williamsport to be treated for injuries they suffered when their car and a Lexus collided at Route 973 and Wallis Run Road in Eldred Township about 1:40 p.m. Saturday, according to township fire officals. The collision sent debris--including parts of the vehicles and a state highway sign--flying in all directions and covering much of Slabtown Bridge, fire officials said. It was believed the injuries were non-life threatening, officials added.

State police said the male driver of the Lexus was heading south on Wallis Run Road, ran a stop sign and struck the eastbound Acura.

Besides township firemen, firefighters from Loyalsock Township and Montoursville responded as did the state Department of Transportation. The scene was cleaned up by 3 p.m.
