The Lycoming County Board of Commissioners is seeking public input for comprehensive updates to the Zoning Ordinance and the Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO) of Lycoming County, the county's two main developmental regulations, according to a press release.
"Our goal is to update our ordinances so they are easier to use and understand, and to incorporate appropriate planning standards," the release said, "new businesses and land uses will be reflected in these 'easier to understand' ordinances."
The County Zoning Ordinance applies to 19 municipalities that have not enacted their own Zoning Ordinances, while SALDO applies to 23 municipalities that have not enacted their own SALDO.
The Zoning Ordinance primarily divides the land areas into zoning districts, which allow for different types of development, such as districts that primarily allow for agricultural uses, housing, and various types of businesses, respectively.
The SALDO is a technical ordinance that primarily sets engineering standards for major developments, and when new lots are created, the press release explained.
