U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, D-Scranton, and U.S. Sen. John Fetterman, D-Braddock, applauded the Senate's confirmation of Judge Julia K. Munley to serve on the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, according to a news release
"Judge Julia Munley's experience as a judge, a lawyer and an advocate for workers, seniors, and many more Pennsylvanians leaves no doubt in my mind that she will serve the people of the Middle District with honor and distinction," Casey said, according to the news release. "She has dedicated her career to serving the people of our Commonwealth and I look forward to seeing her bring her integrity, experience and commitment to equal justice under the law to this critical role."
"I'm very proud that today, the Senate confirmed Judge Julia Munley to be a Judge for the Middle District of Pennsylvania," Fetterman said, according to the news release. "She is a highly qualified nominee who spent years as a judge on the Court of Common Pleas in Lackawanna County, and her experience has prepared her to be a fantastic District Court Judge. I was honored to support her nomination from the start."
Munley has served as a judge on the Court of Common Pleas of Lackawanna County in Pennsylvania's 45th Judicial District since 2016. Previously, the news release said, Munley worked as a trial attorney and partner at Munley Law in Scranton from 2001 to 2016. She served as a law clerk to Judge Stephen J. McEwen of the Pennsylvania Superior Court from 1992 to 1993. She received her J.D. from the Dickinson School of Law in 1992 and her bachelor's degree from Marywood University in 1987.
