River Valley Transit Authority introduces new strategic plan

River Valley Transit Authority has introduced its new directive, a strategic plan that is meant to provide continued excellent service to riders and strengthen partnerships with the community the bus service serves.

The plan was recently approved by the authority board and outlines challenges as well as renewed commitments to employees, riders and communities.

The strategic plan launch follows extensive engagement with board members, employees and stakeholders, officials said.

Over the most recent months, the authority has dealt with two abrupt leadership changes, the COVID pandemic, and the rapid formation of a new governing authority.

“Our dedicated employees have risen above those challenges and continue to provide safe, reliable and clean services to our riding population,” said Noah C. Bower, chairman of the authority board of directors.

“The goal of the newly formed board is to provide stability, guidance and support to the amazing staff of RVTA, public transit users and our community partners,” Bower said.

Today’s authority is going to be an employee and customer driven team that delivers safe, accessible, and reliable transit services for the entire community.

In addition, the strategic plan provides key goals and an implementation plan on how to achieve these goals.

“I am particularly excited about our goals that focus on improving customer experience, communication and community outreach” said Todd Wright, authority executive director.

“We want to ensure that RVTA is doing everything we can to better serve our riders and our surrounding community. RVTA is headquartered in Lycoming County in Williamsport and serves approximately 70,000 people across both Lycoming and Clinton counties,” he said.
