PICTURE ROCKS -- Jody Lomison, 71, of Pine Tree Road, Hughesville, was killed in a utility-terrain vehicle crash that was discovered by hunters about 6:40 a.m. Saturday in the 900 block of Genesee Trail, about three miles east of Huntersville, in Shrewsbury Township, according to emergency responders.
When hunters discovered the crash, Lomison was pinned under his utility-terrain vehicle, according to a spokeswoman with the coroner's office.
"It appears that he failed to negotiate a turn in the road and the UTV rolled on top of him," the spokeswoman said. State police were leading the investigation, but efforts to get any official information from them this weekend were unsuccessful.
"It's our understanding that he was alive and talking when he was found, but then he went unresponsive soon after the UTV was lifted off of him," the spokeswoman added.
When UPMC paramedics and a Muncy ambulance crew with the East Lycoming Ambulance Association arrived, they immediately began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Lomison, but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, Little said.
Lomison was last seen Friday night, telling relatives he was going out riding on his UTV, the coroner's office spokeswoman said investigators were told. The crash occurred sometime overnight, she said.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and it was believed he died of internal injuries, the spokeswoman added.
