The Williamsport Soap Box Derby clinic is coming up.
For those ready to join the race and learn more about it, Williamsport Soap Box Derby officials will hold an Open House Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Williamsport Race Shop, 110 Reynolds St., South Williamsport.
"Officials want the participants to join the thrill of the race together," a news release said.
Why the Soap Box Derby?
The release said that the experience of thrill and excitement of racing, giving back to the community, opportunities for education and growth are just a few reasons to get involved.
Participants will have the opportunity to gain valuable leadership and teamwork skills as well as inspire the next generation engineers and innovators.
Organizers are looking for volunteers to fill the roles of race director, race management, volunteer coordinator, sponsor connection or other steering committee positions.
"Our team is a group of volunteers that share a love of speed, adventure and fun," the news release said. "We can share that excitement to other like-minded individuals and hope you will join us. The family connectivity is immeasurable at the event and leading up to it at the shop."
The mission of Williamsport Soap Box Derby is to provide a rewarding, meaningful and positive experience for girls and boys from Lycoming County through participation in the Williamsport Soap Box Derby.
