10 attorneys admitted to practice in Lycoming County

Ten new attorneys were admitted to the Lycoming County Bar Association on Thursday before a special session helmed by President Judge Nancy Butts, as well as Judge Ryan Tira, Judge Eric Linhardt, and Judge William Carlucci.

In opening remarks, Judge Butts noted the ceremony as being historic in that it was the first time a new inductee had been sponsored by both parents.

The new members include Lindsay Katherine Sweely, Jessica Halina Eckrote, Korrin Abreal Moon, Riane Gabriel Aichner, Alyssa Fenoy, Adrian Masaki Lee, Edward V. Reeves, Frederick Patrick Santucci, Peter Campana Lovecchio, and Noah F Roux.

Sponsoring attorneys included Michael J. Zicolello, Julianne E. Steinbacher, Nicole J. Spring, Jennifer E. Linn, former Judge Marc F. and Angela Lovecchio, Judge-elect Ryan Gardner, and Michael H. Collins.

Following the new lawyers' swearing in, the judges each offered words of advice to the new members.

Judge Linhardt implored the new attorneys to not forget their responsibility to perform pro bono work, calling it "a very important responsibility that falls on all of us."

Judge Tira encouraged the fledgling attorneys to "get involved, get to know the people you work with, the people you're going to be across the aisle from during court," stating that it would make the job easier, and just more fun, adding "you'll realize how likeable all your fellow attorneys are."

Judge Carlucci told the new lawyers that "to become really good at something, you must first be really bad at it," as he pushed them to take every case possible, and take every opportunity afforded to them to practice before the bench.

Judge Butts closed out the ceremony, noting that her own swearing in ceremony in 1986 was historic for its inclusion of four all-female lawyers, speaking directly to the new female members, stating "we motivate, we empower, and we also remind young girls that the law isn't just for men."

Following the ceremony, a celebration was held at the Old Corner Bar & Grill.
