Meagan’s Box: 25 years of making Christmas brighter

The Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department social hall was transformed into Santa's workshop recently when the volunteers of Meagan's Box gathered for their annual "wrap party."
Meagan's Box began when Meagan Murray was a freshman at Hughesville High School saving her money from her allowance and yard sales to provide gifts for children in need in our community. Now 25 years later, Meagan's Box has provided 2,300 gifts to children for Christmas 2023, making it a record year.
The wrapped gifts from the wrap party were delivered to the YWCA, the Son Light House, and WIC, according to the organization's Facebook post.
The milestone year was celebrated with a cake and festivities.
"Christmas is my favorite time of year because when people work together to help others for the greater good, it makes life sweeter," the Facebook post went on to say.
"I would like to thank my whole family for all their love and support to make my teenage dream a reality," Meagan added.
