Two large dump trucks for the City of Williamsport public works department were requested during the city finance committee meeting.
Scott Livermore, general manager of the department, finance committee, asked for the trucks through a requested American Rescue Plan transfer ordinance on first reading.
He said he would like to move public works contingency of $261,073 and public works future projects of $181,480 to the contingency line up for the two dump trucks.
He said he wanted to replace the older trucks that require repairs and begin to build a larger dump truck fleet that will not have to be replaced for the next decade.
Councilwoman Liz Miele, committee chairwoman, asked Livermore if these were budgeted in the ongoing expenses in the capital projects budget.
"These will be liquid fuels eligible," Livermore said.
He wanted to see if the city could get these with the ARPA funds and replace the trucks through rotation throughout the years under capital projects.
The trucks as requested are not budgeted in capital projects but will be added, he said.
Miele asked if the city had any dump trucks budgeted for in capital projects and Livermore said he would need to look.
Total cost of the trucks at the stated discount from the dealer is $408,878, which will leave $33,000 over in the contingency dump truck line item, Livermore said.
The city will not be paying for the trucks until next January, Councilman Randy Allison said looking at the proposal. "Yes," Livermore said.
