"I want to emphasize the fact that the public is not in danger. I want to make that clear."
Those were the opening remarks by Lycoming County District Attorney Tom Marino at a Saturday morning press conference.
A person of interest has been identified, but not named publicly, Williamsport Chief of Police Justin Snyder said, though he said that the person is in police custody on a protection from abuse order.
District Judge Gary Whitman, the on-duty judge overnight Friday, confirmed Saturday afternoon that late Friday he arraigned an individual for violating a protection from abuse order and that the person was committed to the Lycoming County Prison.
Whiteman said all documents concerning the protection order have been sealed for 72 hours.
Authorities are unable to discuss any possible motives or relationships between the suspect and the victims in the shooting that was reported around 12:30 a.m. on Friday morning in the 1700 block of Terrace Place.
A short time later, police located a vehicle containing an adult male and an adult female who were fatally shot, according to city police.
The victims, pronounced dead at 3:27 a.m., were identified as Alisha Seese and Ronald Dailey Jr., both 37, according to a press release.
It was stated at the press conference that both victims were employees of Lycoming Engines, and are believed to have been leaving work at the time of the incident.
Though, Matt Joiner, manager, marketing and communications for Lycoming Engines, later clarified that the two were employees of Security Alliance, a contractor utilized by Lycoming Engines for security services.
Autopsies are scheduled for Saturday morning in Allentown at Forensic Pathology Associates, according to a news release by Lycoming County Coroner Charles Kiessling.
"We're on the right track, we're just taking it one step at a time," Marino said, calling for anyone with information, however small, that could be beneficial to this case to come forward.
"There are a bunch of homes in that area," he said. "We want to know if anybody that we didn't talk to yet has a security system outside their house videoing what is happening on their property, who's coming and going, who may be walking down the street, who may be parking a car at a certain place."
"We still have some discussions too, that we need to have with the factory itself, and the people that work there," he said.
"Lycoming Engines is heartbroken by the tragic events that occurred last evening, and our sympathies are with the loved ones of the victims. Lycoming is fully cooperating with law enforcement," a statement released to employees said, directing them to contact authorities with any information.
