Plenty of progress on the Lycoming Valley Intermediate School construction project took place over the holiday break.
Williamsport Area School District School Board was briefed this week about this by Dale Crans, supervisor of maintenance and facilities, gave the board the update on this $27.8 million project.
He noted that 17 classrooms were put in over the holiday break.
He thanked all of the teachers for boxing up and labeling their materials, and lauded Lobar Inc. for assisting before the break.
He noted that demolition was done and that there are areas gutted.
He said some areas have cinder blocks put in he said prep work has been done for heating pipe installation and plumbing. Crans said a tremendous effort was made to ensure there were usable classrooms for the students.
The board also approved several of project change orders.
As part of the district-wide feasibility plan, the board previously approved plans for a comprehensive school construction project to improve and upgrade at the school.
Construction began last spring with a projected completion in December 2025.
The school project will involve the renovation of classrooms, upgrading of facilities (i.e. HVAC systems, etc.) and the construction of a new secure entry office vestibule.
The project also includes the construction of baseball and softball fields with artificial turf, dugouts and concession stands, which will serve as the
primary fields used by our district's baseball and softball teams.
Dr. Timothy S. Bowers, superintendent, said he, the administration and board believe that this project will have a significant impact on WASD students' education and provide them with a safe and conducive environment for learning.
