Bucknell University: Active shooter reports ‘a hoax’
LEWISBURG — Bucknell “received the all-clear from public safety” around 7:35 p.m. Friday after locking down campus due to reports of an active shooter, the university posted to social media.
The reports were the result of a hoax, university officials told The Daily Item.
“The call was determined to be a hoax coordinated out of Virginia, according to an investigation by state police,” said Mike Ferlazzo, university director of media relations, the Sunbury-area newspaper reported.
The lockdown was declared over about 45 minutes after Bucknell sent out the initial alert.
