A Montgomery woman faces charges after Muncy police investigated suspected abuse of a 4-year-old boy. Police allege the woman lied about being at Memorial Park in Williamsport on Feb. 10 where she claimed the boy was injured.
Alma Marie Force, 48, of 256 Stryker Ave., allegedly admitted to lying about giving a grandmother and two children a ride from their residence to the city park, hindering and obstructing law enforcement in the investigation, according to an affidavit by Muncy Borough Patrolman Ernest Delp.
Force was asked several times whether she drove Rose Mary Winder and two children to Williamsport that day, according to the affidavit.
Force said Winder stated that some "kid had put their hands on the male child."
Force was asked if she saw the child when she picked him up. She said that the male child's cheeks were rosy from running and playing, police said.
Force was asked by police if the child was injured and she shook her head back and forth and stated, "No."
She then told police that, when she dropped Winder and the two children off at Winder's residence, there was nothing out of the ordinary.
Police asked Force, when she took Winder and the two children to the park if she saw any significant injuries on the boy. Again, Force told the officer "no" and that Winder put the boy in the vehicle. Force then stated on the way home from the park the only thing she noticed was that the boy's cheeks were red.
Through further conversation with Force, police confirmed with her that she picked Winder and the children up at Winder's residence and dropped them back off at the residence.
Police said they were able to review camera footage from the park that showed that Force, Winder and the children were never there on that Saturday.
Force was told to arrive at the Muncy police office and read her Miranda warnings, which she waived and agreed to speak with the officer.
During the interview, Force admitted she did not take Winder and the children to the park. She admitted to taking Winder and the children to Weis Markets in Montgomery that day.
Because of this, Force has been charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution and obstructing administration of law or other governmental function.
Force was arraigned by District Judge Kirsten Gardner, who set bail at $25,000.
