Shaw Place Park could be the next premier destination for mountain bike riders, among other outdoor recreation lovers.
The City of Williamsport is looking for experienced architectural and engineering consultants and design-build firms to provide professional services related to turning the park into a hotspot for family fun.
Otherwise known as a mountain bike skills park, the proposed design features an organized network of trails, Bill Scott, city engineer, stated in the terms for contractors.
The integrated trail features difficulty levels from beginner to expert, with a single track trail, a rock garden, paved pump track and jump line.
Among the improvements will be drainage and stormwater management, he said.
There will be walking paths and accessible parking spaces as well as new fencing. There also is a plan to resurface the worn tennis courts.
The city was awarded $224,100 from the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) for the further development of Shaw Place Park, according to Mayor Derek Slaughter. Located along Sheridan Street, this park recently has been improved upon with a splash pad and safer, accessible sidewalks.
Lycoming County also approved releasing American Rescue Plan Act funds toward this city project.
The deadline for this submission process is 3 p.m. April 22.
