More sex assault charges added to thousand-plus Muncy man already faces

More sex assault charges were bound over for court against Timothy Stroud Sr. after a 24-year-old male testified that Stroud had sexual intercourse with him in 2014 when the alleged victim was 14 years old Tuesday morning before District Judge Denise Dieter.

Stroud, 55, last known address in the 400 block of East Penn Street, Muncy, now faces additional charges of rape, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 16, aggravated indecent assault, indecent exposure and corruption of a minor.

Stroud "got me drunk and had sex with me," while the two were at a resort, the alleged victim told the court.

Though that was the only physical encounter to take place, the alleged victim stated that Stroud would often talk to him about sex and had requested sexual favors.

Under cross examination, a question about any physical characteristics of Stroud's body that stood out to the victim was quickly objected to by Assistant District Attorney Phoebe Yates.

Defense attorney Tyler Calkins stated that he was "trying to get to the bottom of what happened," a line of questioning Dieter immediately deemed unnecessary.

No witnesses were called by the defense.

While talking bail, Yates conceded that many similar defendants are bail-eligible, but there are exceptions when there is a risk to the community.

Stroud faces three separate cases involving sexual acts against several children, as well as child pornography charges, Yates stressed.

"The victims are children of both sexes, including young individuals from his neighborhood," Dieter said in denying bail.

One offense happened on a boat in the middle of the Susquehanna River, giving the child no escape, the judge pointed out.

"I find no way that I can place enough conditions on the defendant that would keep the community safe," she said.

Stroud remains incarcerated on 1,017 charges of allegedly molesting five juvenile victims, as well as 23 child pornography charges.
