Motorcyclist dies in crash on Route 15

One man is dead after crashing his motorcycle just before 11 a.m. Friday on Route 15 southbound in Clinton Township.
Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr. confirmed the deceased died at the scene and was in the process of notifying next of kin. The crash took place at 10:49 a.m. and sent numerous individuals onto the scene for close to three hours as of 1:45 p.m. Friday.
The motorcyclist was traveling in a group of other motorcyclists from New York state south to an event for Memorial Day weekend, Kiessling said he was told.
Pennsylvania State Police were on the scene in the 4000 block of Route 15 to determine the cause of the crash.
Clinton Township Fire Department Chief Todd Winder said he was grateful for the concrete walled median approved by the state Department of Transportation (PennDOT) who had personnel on the scene.
The barrier separating the southbound and northbound lanes of Route 15 were believed to have prevented the motorcycle from carrying on into the northbound lanes of the highway. The highway was especially busy on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend holiday.
Winder ordered the traffic to be halted coming southbound and there were numerous members of the volunteer fire department and PennDOT assisting in traffic control.
The weather conditions were bright, clear and sunny at the time of the crash, with temperatures in the mid-80s.
