U.S. Rep. Dan Meuser, R-Dallas, is cosponsoring legislation to allow people with state-issued concealed carry licenses or permits to conceal a handgun in any other state.
According to a news release, the bill also allows residents of Constitutional Carry states to carry in other states.
President Donald Trump has committed to signing national concealed carry reciprocity legislation into law.
"Law-abiding gun owners should not be penalized for simply crossing state lines," said Meuser, according to the news release. "Our Constitutional rights don't end at a state border, and the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act ensures that responsible gun owners can exercise their Second Amendment freedoms no matter where they travel."
The bipartisan legislation eliminates what the news release describes as the confusing patchwork of state laws that often turn law-abiding citizens into unwitting criminals, he said.
