Positions opening up at Lycoming County Department of Public Safety

The approval by the Salary Board of the addition of four Telecommunicator II positions to the Department of Public Safety opens up four Telecommunicator I positions, according to Mike Hagen, the county’s director of Human Resources. The action was taken at this week’s Lycoming County commissioners meeting.

Hagen told the Salary Board, which is composed of Commissioners Scott Metzger, Marc Sortman and Mark Mussina, and acting Controller Nikki Gottschall, that positions had opened up because the four employees had taken the training to move into the next level.

“So the cycle continues,” Hagen said.

Other Salary Board actions included correcting the title of part-time administrative assistant in the Controller’s Office to administrative specialist. It was announced in the commissioners’ regular meeting that Sherrie Hook would be assuming that position at a rate of pay of $20.84 per hour.

Under regular business, the commissioners approved the following items: the annual liability insurance policy for White Deer Golf Management LLC with the Hartman Group in the amount of $2,270; an agreement with BeneCard, the pharmacy provider for the county; an agreement with Outside In for the Juvenile Probation Office; an agreement with attorney Robert Hoffa to provide professional services when there is a conflict of interest in the Public Defender’s Office at the rate of $125 per hour; an agreement with Marybeth Bergen-Gallagher to provide sign language services at a rate of $80 per hour; an agreement with Honey Dippers Portable Toilets in the amount of $80 for the County Farm; an invoice for Anthony Visco for facade work on Third Street Plaza in the amount of $1,838; an agreement with John Controls Fire Protection LP in the amount of $3,361 annually; an agreement with Daikin Applied for $21,240 for maintenance on cooler systems; and a service agreement with Postler & Jaeckler, not to exceed $2,360.

Additionally, the commissioners approved four items for the IT Department.

They were: the purchase of five network devices from E-Plus at a cost of $24,713; the purchase of 15 network devices for up-grade from E-Plus at a cost of $74,141; the faxing solution subscription from Marco at $201 per month; and the purchase of two network core switches from E-Plus in the amount of $44,742.

Under personnel, the county filled the following positions at the rates of pay listed: Tyler Fetterman, full-time Telecommunicator II in the Department of Public Service, $22.97 per hour; Miranda Jenious, part-time resident Supervisor at the Pre-Release Center, a union position, $19.20 per hour; Luke Young, full-time correctional officer at the prison, a union position, $20 per hour; and Aron Harmon, full-time truck driver/float driver at Resource Management Services, $19.44 per hour.

The next commissioners’ meeting will be at 10 p.m., May 1 in the Commissioners’ Board Room, third floor of Third Street Plaza, 33 W. Third St.

Starting at $2.99/week.
