A U.S. Army aviator will be the Memorial Day parade grand marshal and keynote speaker at the Borough of Muncy Memorial Day Parade and ceremony.
The parade steps off at 11 a.m. on Monday and features CW4 Roger D. Bohner Jr., who will serve as grand marshal and provide a keynote address, according to Roland H. Ritter, American Legion Post 268 Commander Sheila Hagemeyer.
The parade follows a course down historic Main Street and ends at the Muncy Cemetery, where a service will be held with Pastor Rob Rice of the Muncy Baptist Church who will offer the invocation and benediction; state Rep. Joe Hamm, R-Hepburnville, representing the 84th House District; Lycoming County Commissioner Marc C. Sortman; Edward J. Smith VFW Post 3428 Commander Dennis Kepner and Muncy's High School Band under the direction of Mike Buck will be in attendance to play the National Anthem and Taps.
Also honoring America's fallen veterans will be the combined Honor Guard of American Legion Post 268 and VFW Post 3428 who will render these honors with the 21 gun salute.
Anyone interested in participating can still do so.
The Parade forms at 10 a.m. on Mechanic Street in the lot behind the Uni-Mart.
Memorial Day is a holiday to support veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.
After the ceremony at the cemetery, parade participants are invited for light refreshments at
Muncy American Legion Post 268 and Muncy VFW Post 3428.
The Muncy Lions are having their annual chicken barbecue at Lions Park across from the cemetery.
