Commissioners award annual grant to JPO

A grant award of $242,417 to help offset operating costs in the Juvenile Probation Office (JPO) was approved by the Lycoming County Commissioners at their meeting this week.

The Juvenile Courts Judges Commission JPO Services Grant Award is an annual allocation.

The commissioners also approved two change orders related to work on the new coroner’s facility.

The first change order with Silver Tip, Inc. would provide for a switching a dryer from electric to gas.The second change order, also with Silver Tip, changes the faucet on a sink to foot operated in order for workers to have hands-free use.

In other business, the commissioners voted to approve: an agreement with George Junior Republic in PA for JPO; an agreement with Revize Web Services in the amount of $36,500.00 for a new website at county; the appointment to the Local Emergency Planning Committee of Michael Hagen, Elizabeth Blauser, and Samuel Miller; and amendment to the agreement with the Lycoming-Clinton Joinder Board 2022-23 PHARE (Pennsylvania Housing Affordability Rehabilitation Enhancement) to extend the deadline to the Community Development Block Grant Program Contract in the amount of $590,736; and an agreement with Sapphire Health for the prison.

Several Cover Crop Agreements between the county’s Conservation District and landowners were approved. The included the following: James H. Bishop, Charles R. Bosch, Lawrence S. Fry, Thomas J. Hamm, JRT Farms, Edwin E. Kitzmiller II, Shane Kitzmiller, Lost Brooke Farm Inc., Lynch Farms, Moser Farms, Wilhelm Schon, Parker L. Smith, Charles Ulmer, Christopher P. Ulrich, Raymond L. Worthington, and Walter L. Worthington, Jr.

Under personnel, the following people were hired for the positions and the rates of pay listed: Jesse Wagner, full-time Juvenile Probation Officer II, a union position, $23.82 per hour, Stephanie Starr, full-time Licensed Practical Nurse at the Prison, $30 per hour; Hailey Phillips, full-time Correctional Officer at the Prison, a union position, Full-Time, $20 per hour; and Resource Management – Randy Clayton, full-time equipment operator at Resource Management Services, $21.68 per hour.

The next commissioners’ meeting will be at 10 a.m., May 15 in the Commissioners’ Board Room, 3rd floor, Third Street Plaza, 33 West Third St.
