Outdoor deck at Bowman Field to be repaired

UPMC Loggers Landing at Journey Bank Park at Historic Bowman Field has been leaking when it rains but the City of Williamsport is taking care of it.
The outdoor deck for viewing baseball along the right field will get a protective treatment, said Scott Livermore, director of city Public Works.
The company, Weatherproofing, started its job, but has been hampered by too many days of rain, he told the City Council which then approved a resolution awarding the construction services repairs project to Weatherproofing. The company contract is for about $89,000 and change and the American Rescue Plan Act funds are paying for it, Livermore said.
It was noted the company was selected through KPM, a national CoStars system that found the lowest rate for the city.
“It will be helpful to get that taken care of,” Councilwoman Liz Miele, chair of the finance committee, said.
She asked Livermore if there were other repairs at the park that the city does not have the funding budgeted for and he said no.
This project should be completed, climate permitting, about the second week of July, he said. The weatherproofing will go on the block to stop the leaking from occurring.
Council also took these actions:
— Ordinance amending Part 15 Fire Prevention Code, Article 1501, International Fire Code on final reading.

Miele, during this transaction, asked Jamie Livermore, city finance director, if the city has a slush fund of unused funds and how much in Act 13 or natural gas impact fee funds are unused funds. Livermore said she will get that answer for Miele.
