Williamsport Municipal Airport Authority applies for grant for taxiways work

The Williamsport Municipal Airport Authority at its recent meeting voted to apply for a $224,000 grant for taxiways rehabilitation work.
If awarded the federal Investment Infrastructure and Jobs Act grant, the airport would be required to match 2.5 percent of the funding total.
Taxiways work would involve various upgrades, including signage and markings, according to airport officials.
In other matters, the Authority hired HRI, Inc., State College for the airport access road project.
HRI’s bid of $237,980 was the lower of two bids for the work. It was noted that the bid came under the estimated project cost.
Airport Executive Director Eric McKitish reported 52 of 53 scheduled commercial flight departures from the airport occurred in May. In addition, 51 of the scheduled 53 arrivals for the airport were completed during the month.
The overall traffic count, including private planes and non-scheduled flights, decreased in May from April. McKitish cited rain and inclement weather during May for the drop.
McKitish also reported that the Montour Street access road project is nearing the bid process.
The next meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at the airport terminal building.
