Loyalsock school board approves several items
The Loyalsock Township School Board took action on several items during its monthly meeting this week.
Several financial matters were given the board’s blessing, including the purchase and installation of smart boards from ePlus Technology, Inc., Herndon, Va., at an estimated cost of $202,339.05; baseball field renovation services from Field Symmetry, State College, at an estimated cost of $22,775.00; and the Loyalsock Township Recreation Board budget of $34,472.75, for programs during the 2025-26 school year.
In staffing matters, the board approved Melissa Boldt as a full-time paraprofessional, at an hourly rate of $16.10, effective Aug. 18, 2025; an adjustment in salary for Matthew Little, Technology Specialist, due to increased responsibilities. Mr. Little’s new salary was set at $70,000.00, effective July 1, 2025; the transfer of Richard Cummings, Assistant High School Principal to Secondary Principal of Student Programs & Services, following the approval of the job description, at a prorated salary of $91,000.00 for the 2025-26 school year, effective July 1, 2025; several fall athletic personnel for the 2025-26 sports season; and acknowledged the resignation of Amy Fessler as school nurse, effective June 16, 2025.
In other actions, the board approved the attached final/revised 2024-25 school calendar; the Curriculum Management Plan. The “plan outlines a long range five year cycle of implementation and will serve as a general framework to support our curriculum development and professional learning goals within that five year period,” explained Assistant Superintendent Dr. Brooke Beiter explained. “While this is a framework we want our board and public to recognize that will remain agile through that time and responses to both student needs and emerging state mandates that could require some modification and would bring those changes to the board if they were large, or any slight modification would happen under the direction of our curriculum supervisor,” she continued; and adopted revised policies for student drug testing, federal fiscal compliance, travel reimbursement for federal programs and conflict of interest.
The next school board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
