Muncy school board approves scoreboard purchase
The Muncy School Board at its July meeting approved the purchase of two video scoreboards from OES Inc. for the high school gymnasium at a cost of $150,140.
“We hope to have them in for winter sports,” District Superintendent Dr. Craig Skaluba said.
The scoreboards will be funded through sponsorship agreements with companies marketing their services on the scoreboards.
So far, the district has four such contracts in place with the goal of securing 10 agreements.
The board went ahead and approved a one-year scoreboard advertising agreement for $15,000 with Young Industries, Muncy.
District Business Administrator Andrew Seese asked the board to consider leasing a paint machine for outdoor athletic fields.
The machine, he said, could reduce labor hours now needed to prepare the fields for games.
The annual lease would amount to between $8,500 and $11,000, he noted.
A three-year leasing contract is required.
No action was taken, and Seese agreed to further research the issue.
Seese provided an update to the board on summer maintenance projects at school building sites.
Among the completed projects, he said, are concrete work at the Ward L. Myers Elementary School. Walkway work and paving was done around the high school.
Meanwhile, cleaning and painting in and around buildings is ongoing.
In personnel action, the board approved the following personnel for positions:
• Robert Koslop, head junior high softball coach.
• Kassidi Lenhart, assistant junior high softball coach.
• Carianna Diehl, varsity cheerleading coach.
• Katie McGuire, game worker.
• Chris Persing, Mark Kreisher, Bryce Town, and Evan Welliver, weight room supervisors.
The board also approved the following:
•The purchase of classroom furniture from STS Innovative Interiors through the state’s COSTARS program for $17,854.
• The Select Package Subscription from Hudl for sports technology software at $15,500.
• A $5,000 donation from First Citizens Community Bank for innovative educational programming.
• Payment of staff for various instruction including professional and curriculum development and audio-visual support.
• The coach athletic and student athlete handbooks.
The board met in executive sessions preceding and following the meeting for personnel matters.
