River Valley Transit Authority gains seasoned members in former county transportation planner, commissioner
The River Valley Transit Authority has added two more members, approved by the three Lycoming County commissioners, and they are seasoned government personnel.
Mark Murawski, who served for many years as the county transportation planner, and Richard Mirabito, a former county commissioner and member of the state House of Representatives, were selected to be on the authority board.
They are expected to lend their expertise and experience to the now-seven member authority, which is a separate entity and provides oversight and guidance for the city-based mass transit bus system.
Murawski has agreed to serve for a period of five years and Mirabito has a term of four years.
Williamsport City Council previously discussed how adding the two county representatives as the mass transit system provides service throughout the county and not just the city would likely benefit the authority.
In other matters, the commissioners approved hires that are expected to boost the courts and district attorney’s office, including Loretta Berrigan, full-time court reporter, $22.83 per hour; Caryn Lindsey, law clerk for county Judge William Carlucci, $64,760 per year; Matthew Hutchinson, administrative specialist at the sheriff’s office, $16.75 per hour.
Other personnel hires include Lara Caffas, resident supervisor at the pre-release center, $19.20 per hour; Connor Leard, correctional officer, $20 per hour; Christian Lafferty, correctional officer, $20 per hour; and Sara Johns, adult probation, pretrial probation officer, $75,922 per year.
