Three men charged in separate domestic disturbances

When the woman arrived at police headquarters on July 8 to report that she was the victim of domestic violence in the city, the officer clearly saw “scratches on the right side of her face as well as black and blue marks on the left side of her face. The woman’s left eye was black and blue, and her lip was split,” it was stated in an affidavit. Police allege the man who inflicted the injuries was Tyrone Michael Jackson, 39, of 631 First Ave., whom the woman had been dating. Jackson was arraigned Tuesday night before District Judge Christian Frey on charges of simple assault and harassment, and released on $5,000 bail.
In another domestic case, Cain M. Wheeler, 25, of Morris, was jailed on charges of strangulation, simple assault and harassment after he grabbed his girlfriend’s neck with both his hands, preventing her from breathing for 20 seconds on Front Street in Woodward Township on June 25, state police alleged in a court document. Following his arraignment hours later before Biichle, Wheeler, who denied the accusations, was initially jailed in the Lycoming County Prison, but has since been released on $25,000 bail.
In a third case, Jafar Hill, 29, of 512 Eddy St., faces charges after he threw his ex-girlfriend’s bicycle off her front porch in the 1300 block of West Fourth Street after she refused to return with him to his home on June 24, city police alleged in an affidavit. Hill and the woman struggled over the bicycle as the former girlfriend tried to pick it up off the ground, police were told. The woman suffered injuries to her left arm during the ordeal, police said. Before fleeing the scene, Hill grabbed a light that fell off the front of the bicycle and put it in his pocket, police alleged.
When officers spotted Hill Tuesday night near Anne and Seth Streets, he took off running, but was nabbed following a short foot pursuit, police said. He put up a struggle and kicked one officer in the chest, it was alleged in the affidavit.
Charged initially with simple assault, harassment, criminal mischief and theft for the domestic disturbance, Hill now faces additional charges of resisting arrest, evading arrest and public drunkenness, police said. During his arraignment before Frey on the two sets of charges, Hill refused to answer any of the routine questions that judges always ask defendants during such proceedings. He was jailed in lieu of $20,000 bail.
