Williamsport Municipal Airport Authority approves terminal building roof work

The Williamsport Municipal Airport Authority at its recent meeting approved change orders for airport terminal building work.

The additional roof repairs will increase the overall cost for the project by $18,857.

The change orders were the only items acted upon by the Authority at the meeting.

In other matters, Executive Director Eric McKitish reported to the board that each of the airport’s scheduled commercial flights during the month of June were completed.

“We had no cancellations,” he said.

The airport’s sole commercial provider is Southern Airways Express, which scheduled 52 arrivals and 52 departures for the month.

Overall, air traffic, which includes non-commercial flights, decreased between May and June, according to McKitish.

“The main reason was the weather,” he explained.

McKitish reported that the airport will host Girls in Aviation Day Sept. 24.

The event, he said, is a global initiative of women who inspire girls to pursue careers in aviation and aerospace.

Pennsylvania College of Technology and Girl Scouts of America are co-sponsors of the event.

McKitish said the airport will be participating in this year’s Little League World Series Grand Slam Parade set for Aug. 12 in Williamsport.

“More than likely, we will be putting in a float,” he said.

The airport will be the site for the Montoursville Chamber of Commerce PM exchange Sept. 18.

The board met in an executive session following the meeting to consider personnel and lease matters.

The next Authority meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14 at the airport.

Starting at $3.90/week.
