Boys and girls who belong to Scouting America, Susquehanna Council, will march Tuesday in the 19th Grand Slam Parade in Williamsport.

The parade will showcase the 20 teams taking part in the 78th Little League World Series and scouts will bring their enthusiasm and patriotism as an organization devoted to inspiring youngsters to excel.

There are 1,500 boys and girls in the Susquehanna Council.

“The scouts will be carrying flags,” said Dennis

Dugan, a scout executive.

The organization plans on showcasing aspects of scouting such as camping and citizenship.

“We get units excited about participating and getting Scouting America, Susquehanna Council, out in the public eye,” Dugan said.

During the parade, which starts at 5 p.m. Tuesday at West Fourth and Maynard streets and goes east on Fourth Street to Market Street, scouts will be handing out information sheets with a QR code to the youths watching the parade who may be interested in joining scouting.

Food and LL pins on the route

While St. Joseph the Worker Parish and Knights of Columbus will not be marching in the parade, the parish will be selling food and Little League pins featuring players wearing a helmet with a cross.

The parish will have the food and pin concession area starting at 3:45 p.m. at 720 W. Fourth St., said Holly King, parish administrative assistant.

The concession stand will be operated by the parish kitchen group.

Starting at $2.99/week.
