Child pornography charges land Cogan Station man in Lycoming County Prison

Christopher David Pogue, 51, of 230 Hoover Drive, Cogan Station, was arrested Thursday morning and jailed on more than 30 felony counts for allegedly having child pornography on a computer hard drive and two cellphones, according to documents filed by a Lycoming County detective assigned to the county’s district attorney’s office.

The cellphones and a digital computer hard drive were seized when investigators executed a search warrant at Pogue’s home in Lycoming Township on July 22, it was stated in an affidavit filed by the detective.

After he was read his Miranda rights on that July morning, Pogue agreed to answer detectives’ questions for nearly two hours.

When asked if he accidentally downloaded child pornography, Pogue said “It’s highly probable that that’s the case,” according to the court document.

Pogue told investigators that he “probably looked at porn when he was at work,” it was stated in the court document. One of the detectives said to him, “In dealing with these types of cases, I know a lot of guys and women — you’d be surprised — curiosity got the best of them. You know, ‘Maybe I’ll just take a quick peek and see,'” it was stated in the affidavit. “So, did curiosity get the best of you?” the detective asked him.

“I mean, I’m going to say it, it probably did,” Pogue replied.

The investigation began after a cybertip was received by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in early 2024 in which two digital images in a computer file were categorized as “apparent child pornography,” the affidavit stated. Further investigation led detectives to Pogue and the eventual seizure of cellphones and computer equipment from his home or vehicle, according to the district attorney’s office.

“A total of 32 images-videos depicting child sexual abuse material were recovered from devices belonging to Pogue,” it was stated in the court document.

Pogue turned himself in about 9 a.m. at the office of District Judge William Solomon on Lycoming Creek Road to face 33 felony counts of sexual abuse of children and four felony counts of illegal use of a communication device. He was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $150,000 bail.

Starting at $2.99/week.
