Motorcyclist taken to hospital after crash on Route 118 near Hughesville
For the second time in as many days, a motorcyclist was injured Friday night in a crash near Hughesville.
The latest crash occurred just after 9 p.m. on Route 118, less than a mile east of the borough, near Clarkstown Road.
Hughesville firefighters and state police rushed to the accident that involved the motorcyclist and an SUV, according to borough fire officials.
The motorcyclist, a 48-year-old Muncy woman, was taken to UPMC Williamsport with critical injuries she suffered when she crashed into the back of a Jeep whose driver was slowing down to make a turn, state police said Saturday afternoon. Her identity was being withheld at this point, police said.
The woman was not wearing a helmet, police said.
On Thursday afternoon, a motorcyclist was hurt when he struck the rear of a stopped van, whose driver was waiting for traffic to clear in order to make a turn at Route 405 and Van Horn Boulevard in Muncy Creek Township. State police investigated this crash, but the identity of the motorcyclist involved in this crash has also not yet been released.
