Every year DCNR publishes a fall foliage report on their website which consists of regional descriptions and a fall foliage map of the state.
He encouraged people to visit the fall foliage reports page.
“They have to go to DCNR and click on conservation, and then forests and trees, and then you’ll find the fall foliage reports embedded in that platform,” he said.
“One change that I do know is that our digital staff is planning to do a little bit more of a feature page this year. So not only will the report be available where it traditionally always has been, our digital staff plans to make it a little bit more accessible through more of a feature page. So folks can look for that.
“They can also look for a revamped look. We’re kind of changing the way the appearance of the map, so kind of doing a little bit of updating over time,” he said.
The page offers a map with the color codes that show the current and projected colors, so people can actually see how that changes from week to week.
“Typically, I put out a portfolio report every week for six weeks. Sometimes it’s longer, sometimes it’s shorter, most of the time it’s six weeks,” he said.
“But I have a feeling this year it might end up six. It might end up five. I don’t know. I just don’t know how the season is going to go,” he added.
The report ends when the leaves have all fallen.
