Water main project nearing completion

The Route 44 water main replacement project is nearing completion with about three-fourths of the job done, members of the Lycoming County Water and Sewer Authority (LCWSA) board were told at their meeting this week.

The project, which began in April, involves replacing about one mile of water main along the route with PVC water main and replacing existing services with meter pits. Funding for the project includes Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and county American Rescue Plan monies. Harger Utility Contractors, Inc. was awarded the contract for $816,435, according to a report from the authority’s engineer.

The date for completion of the project is estimated to be Sept. 19, which, Christine Weigle, LCWSA executive director said, still offers time to plant grass and restore the area affected by the construction.

The board approved payment #5 to Harger of $126,447 for the work.

In another action the board approved accepting a deed of dedication for water infrastructure associated with FamVest XXIV 76 Odell LLC.

This project involves installation of approximately 320 linear feet of water main along Odell Road, which allows for fire service to the existing warehouse building at 76 Odell Road. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was executed early last month and the work was completed later in the month. The property is located in Muncy and Fairfield townships.

It was also reported that plans for the restaurant at Lycoming Crossings next to Starbucks have been reviewed and approved. The will serve was issued last October and the Permit to Connect was issued last month.

The Chick-Fil-A Restaurant chain confirmed in June that they were planning to construct a restaurant at that site. According to the LCWSA operations’ report, Chick-Fil-A’s plans have been reviewed and the tapping fee paid.

Other items approved by the LCWSA board included: a contract for cleaning the administrative offices with Evergreen Environmental Group for up to three years; and a contract with BP Energy Retail Company LLC for a three-year fixed rate of 0.0877 per kilowatt hours for electricity.

The next board meeting will be at 6 p.m., Oct. 1, at the Administrative Office board room, 380 Old Cement Road, Montoursville.

Starting at $2.99/week.
