Williamsport City Council approves pension obligations

Williamsport City Council voted on and approved the minimum municipal obligation for pensions for Williamsport Bureau of Police, Bureau of Fire and officers and employees.

The police pension fund is $2,028,978; the fire pension fund, $1.7 million, and officers and employees pension fund, $595,233.

The total MMO for next year is $4,397,372 million, according to Jamie Livermore, city finance director.

The 2025 MMO was $4,307,972 million, but next year is slightly more.

The amount of state aid for 2025 is not yet available, city officials said.

In 2023, the city received state aid in the amount of $1.5 million, which decreased in 2024 to $1.2 million.

The reports were completed by Acrisure, the actuary and consulting company for the pensions plans using Jan. 1, 2023 valuation and data.
