The identity of a man pulled from Lycoming Creek in the 400 block of Susque Road, Lewis Township, Thursday morning has been released.

48-year old Nathan M. Sherman, of West Chester, was discovered floating on the southern edge of the creek just before 10 a.m., according to a press release by Lycoming County Coroner Charles Kiessling Jr.

Sherman had reportedly been fishing in the area last evening, and fishing equipment was found nearby, the release said.

There were no signs of foul play or trauma in the death of Sherman, who had an extensive medical history, according to family members, the press release said.

The death is still under investigation by the Lycoming County Coroner’s Office and state police, according to the Coroner’s release.

Several agencies responded to the call that came in shortly after 9:30 a.m., including Trout Run Volunteer Fire Company, Ralston Volunteer Fire Department and Susquehanna Regional EMS.
