Nearly $1.4M in grants awarded to area nonprofits

The First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania recently announced the approval of grants totaling $1,390,000 to 13 nonprofit organizations through its competitive grant program.

According to a news release, these grants are designed to support initiatives that benefit residents in Lycoming County.

Eligible nonprofits were invited to submit a request between $25,000 and $250,000 for projects that enhance arts and culture, education, health and human services, environmental stewardship, and economic development.

“FCFP Regional Advisory Board members collaborated with FCFP staff to evaluate each proposal, focusing on factors such as service area, population served, sustainability, community support, demonstrated need, and alignment with grant criteria,” the news release said. “For more information about grant opportunities, please visit FCFPartnership.org.”

The grantees include:

• Borough of Montgomery, $50,000 — ADA-accessible restroom renovations for Montgomery Park

• Child Hunger Outreach Partners, $70,000 — In-School Pantry and Backpack Programs for Curtin Intermediate School, Williamsport Area Middle School, Williamsport Area High School, Muncy High School, and South Academy IU 17

• City of Williamsport, $125,000 — digitization of the city’s permanent records to improve efficiency, long-term document preservation, and enhance public access to information

• Firetree Place, $250,000 — expansion of the community center for additional childcare and an updated playground

• Geisinger Health Foundation, $40,000 — new-generation night vision goggles and flight helmets for Geisinger Life Flight

• James V. Brown Library, $75,000 — building renovations to add a multi-use technology center for the public and staff

• Lycoming College, $180,000 — support for the installation of stadium lighting for the baseball field at Brandon Park

• Lycoming County 4-H Development, $25,000 — educational materials to expand and share the importance of the agricultural industry to be offered through traditional club settings, school programs, and educational day camps and clinics

• Lycoming County SPCA, $40,000 — building renovations including roof repair, outdated heating and cooling systems replacement, and updated security doors to enhance safety

• Northeastern Pennsylvania Educational Television Association (WVIA), $200,000 — Lycoming @ Work and Careers that Work: workforce development initiative videos and curricula for grades 4-12 that foster early awareness and education of manufacturing careers

• Old Lycoming Township Volunteer Fire Company, $200,000 — comprehensive enhancements to Regional Emergency Services Hub to accommodate immersive live-in first responder training

• Uptown Music Collective, $35,000 — technology upgrades for staff, instructors, and the student computer lab

• Williamsport Lycoming Arts Council, $100,000 — enclosed vendor huts for the annual Williamsport German Christmas Market to be held on Dec. 5 and 6 this year
