The Lycoming County Brotherhood Alliance is asking the public to help nominate individuals “in our communities that make a dramatic impact and live a life of service to others without compensation or expecting anything in return,” a news release from the alliance said.

The Lycoming County Brotherhood Alliance board of directors “recognizes that there are many individuals in our community that make a difference in the lives of others and are never acknowledged, nor do they seek recognition for what they do, but do it because of their love of people and great concern for the overall good of mankind,” the news release said. “These unsung heroes can be found in churches, synagogues, schools, PTAs, service clubs, private clubs, lunchrooms, kids’ clubs, amongst our neighbors, and many other numerous places that we might not be aware of.”

The criteria the news release cited for the Unsung Hero Award is an individual in Lycoming County who would normally not be recognized nor would expect to be recognized. This is an individual who isn’t working or serving in an executive position of a business, organization, or service club that serves others, according to the news release. This is an individual who participates in a private activity or a variety of activities (i.e. church, vacation bible schools, cafeterias, school, community centers, sports fields, fire companies, boy/girl scouts, etc.) that is beneficial to the lives of the people and community in which he or she serves.

Send the Lycoming County Brotherhood Alliance the name, address, phone number and email of the person you are nominating, a description of their impact in your life or the lives of others, and why you feel they should receive recognition. Please include your name, address, phone number and email so we can contact you should the alliance’s board need additional information.
