Personnel, contracts, Honor Society addressed by East Lycoming School Board
The Hughesville High School campus recently inducted 34 new members into the National Honor Society, with a plan to recognize inductees past and present by placing them onto the digital display board in the library and adding another digital board outside of the gymnasium for more community access.
The coordination for the project is being done by Tom Coburn, principal of Hughesville High School grades 10-12 who is working with a member of National Honor Society to add the inductees past and present onto the library’s digital display, according to Dr. Mark Stamm, superintendent.
The elementary schools are busy with Fall Festivals and Walk-a-Thons and they are made possible through the active Parent Teacher Organization/Association.
“These activities not only raise funds to support their projects, but are also an opportunity for students and the community to be directly involved,” Stamm said.
The district school resource officer Drew Boyer made national news along with other Lycoming County school resource officers.
For several years, the SROs have coordinated a kickball game on the Hughesville High School campus called Kickin’ It with Cops.’
The goal is to provide a fun environment for students to connect with each other and the police. The SROs enjoy it and so do the students and staff who participate, Stamm said, referring those interested to page 9 of the national “Journal of School Safety” where a story is featured.
