Williamsport city council sees returning members plus a new face

Williamsport saw more than 9,500 people turn out Tuesday to vote in judicial and municipal races — including three seats on Williamsport City Council.
Incumbents Liz Miele and Eric Beiter were reelected to city council with 2,786 votes and 2,409 votes respectively. Jonah Milliken won the other seat with 2,654 votes, according to unofficial results tabulated by Lycoming County Voter Services.
Voters also cast ballots for four school boards in central Lycoming County on Tuesday — two of which saw competitive races.
Jamie L. Sanders, Rick Douglass, Daniella Weaver, Nazirah Purnell and Lauren Montgomery were elected to the five seats on the Williamsport Area School Board up for election in 2025, getting between 4,533 votes and 3,873 votes each, according to unofficial results from Lycoming County Voter Services.
Larry Allison Jr., Benjamin A. Hepburn, Ben Marzo and David Steele won the four seats up for election in Loyalsock Township School District.
John Houseknecht Jr., Todd A. Badger and David J. Young won uncontested elections for three seats on the Montoursville Area School Board. No candidates ran for a fourth seat up for election.
Likewise, no candidates were on the ballot for two of the five seats on the South Williamsport Area School Board up for election in 2025. Benjamin M. Brigandi, Jason E. Lewis and Cathy Bachman ran uncontested for the other three seats.
Misty Emick was elected in an uncontested race for one of three seats on Montoursville Borough Council while 219 write-in votes were cast against Kenneth L. Raker’s 112 votes. Officials will need to review the write-in votes to determine a winner. Marshall J. Winters won the remaining seat, according to unofficial results on the county’s website.
Randy Swank was elected mayor of Montoursville.
Three candidates for Loyalsock Township supervisor were elected in uncontested races: Paul Nyman, John C. Bower Jr. and Richard M. Trowbridge.
Races for South Williamsport mayor and borough council, DuBoistown borough council and Old Lycoming Township supervisor were also uncontested. One-hundred and ninety voters cast ballots for Richard A. Knecht for DuBoistown mayor while 193 write-in votes were cast.
