The Loyalsock Township School board elected a new board president prior to handling a light agenda at its final meeting of the year Wednesday.

The board selected member David Bjorkman to fill the one-year slot left vacant by outgoing President Hal Gee. Board member Michael Zicolello was elected to the position of Vice-President.

In financial matters, the board approved a resolution electing not to increase its tax rate above the state-issued index of 4.4% or .67 mils, for the 2026-27 school year.

“Six-point-seven mills equates to roughly $515,000 of new revenue that would be brought into the district if the district were to decide to increase its millage .67 Mills,” district Business Manager Dan Egly explained.

In staffing, the board approved Robert Cashman as a professional employee assigned as a social studies teacher; the transfer of Rosetta Carpenter from part-time to full-time custodial employee, effective Nov. 17, 2025; Amber Whited as a staff accountant, with a prorated salary of $62,000, effective Dec. 2; the transfer of Felica Auman from substitute to part-time food service employee, at an hourly rate of $15.50, effective Dec. 2; a prorated salary adjustment of $31,000 for Kenneth Hampe, strength and conditioning coach, effective Dec. 15; and a number of winter athletic personnel with stipends ranging from $1,500 to $7,200.

At the close of the meeting, district Superintendent Dr. Brooke Beiter reminded the community of the need for continued support of the district’s food pantry.

“Our food pantry, located on the secondary campus, is supporting all students, pre-K through 12 in our district. If you have any interest in contributing, continue to please pay attention to our social media channels as we continue to gather that support. It is a year round need benefiting a number of students and their families in the district,” she said.

The next board board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026.
