New fee schedules for transfer station and landfill in the new year
Following the recent resignation of the Director of Public Safety Jeff Hutchins, Lycoming County Commissioner Scott Metzger stated that the county has “candidates lined up” for the position with the hope of having a replacement in place by early January.
Metzger made the announcement at a recent commissioners’ meeting which saw a large number of vacant positions removed from the county’s roster in an effort to downsize the county’s workforce.
In other actions, the commissioner approved a new fee schedule for the transfer station which takes effect Jan. 1.
There is a minimum fee of $30. Other fees are: municipal solid waste cash customers, $95/ton and individual accounts, $85/ton. Commercial business accounts are $85/ton; commercial hauling enterprise, $85/ton; and certified waste haulers, $85/ton. Plus oversized fees over 12.00 tons, $255 per load.
They also approved a new fee schedule for the landfill, effective Jan. 1.
A $30 minimum fee also applies with the following fees to be in place Jan. 1: individual residents, $69.80; commercial business, $55 industrial generator, $55; commercial hauling enterprise, $55; and certified waste haulers, $55.

Other agenda items approved by the commissioners included: an amendment to a subrecipient agreement with Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity for the 508 5th Avenue Project., extending the deadline; and amendment to the subrecipient agreement with the Williamsport Municipal Water Authority, extending the deadline; an amendment to the subrecipient agreement with Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity for the Clark Street S. Williamsport Project extending the deadline; the Letter of Engagement with Baker Tilly for an audit; the Agreement with Health Network Laboratories, L. P. d/b/a Forensic Pathology Associates for District Attorney’s office consults, not to exceed $20,000; John S. O’Brien II, MD, JD for forensic psychology for the District Attorney’s office not to exceed $50,000; an amendment to the agreement with Fry’s Fire Protection for all fire extinguishers in the county; the LSA Grant Application pass through for the Williamsport Home in the amount of $300,000; the purchase of two commercial washers & dryers for the Coroners Building from AC Power Company, Inc in the amount of $13,320; the polling place & ADA construction agreement with Antes Volunteer Fire Company; the ManageEngine Perpetual Software renewal with Nuologix in the amount of $21,611.25; the Digital Forensics Software renewal with Magnet Forensics in the amount of $6,720; the Network Monitoring Service agreement with Progress in the amount of $5,725; the Oracle Support renewal with Mythics in the amount of $963.98; the purchase from Vicon Industries in the amount of $28,091.10 for the indoor Courthouse cameras; the purchase from Vicon Industries in the amount of $19,060.60 for the outdoor Courthouse cameras; the multi-factor authentication software renewal with Aspire Technology Partners in the amount of $37,625; the agreement with Guardian Protection Services at $715 per month; and the Invoice for Guardian Protection Services, Inc. in the amount of $12,000.
The next meeting of the commissioners will be on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Commissioners’ Board Room, 3rd floor Third Street Plaza, 33 West Third St. Please note that this is a special meeting to introduce the 2026 budget.
