Nonprofits serving Lycoming County residents receive over $74K

Rep. Jamie Flick, R-South Williamsport, recently announced more than $74,000 has been awarded to nonprofits serving residents of Lycoming County. The money comes from the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP), a tax credit initiative that encourages businesses to invest in projects that strengthen communities and improve quality of life for residents.

“These organizations are doing incredible work to meet the needs of our communities,” said Flick, according to a news release. “It’s inspiring to see so many local organizations working together with private partners to meet real needs in our community. These investments will make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents across Lycoming and Union counties.”

The organizations receiving money through the NAP include the Lycoming-Clinton Counties Commission for Community Action (STEP) Inc., which is getting $67,500 and the American Rescue Workers Williamsport, which is getting $7,150.

STEP will use its money to support its Supportive Housing and Master Leasing Programs, which offer intensive case management and direct housing assistance to help families facing a crisis, guiding them toward stable housing and self-sufficiency, the news release said. The American Rescue Workers will launch a Mobile Food Pantry to deliver a three-day supply of food to low-income residents in Lycoming County. The project will serve more than 1,000 people and distribute more than 59,000 pounds of food.

Starting at $2.99/week.
