Welteroth takes over as treasurer and tax collector
The City of Williamsport has a new treasurer and tax collector.
Adam Welteroth began his duties effective mid-December following an interview process.
Former Treasurer Kevin Mackey resigned in October.
Welteroth was appointed by the City Council after six candidates expressed interest.
Three candidates did not respond, one had to withdraw because of the residency requirements and two were interviewed, Welteroth and April Line, who recently ran for council.
Council President Adam Yoder said, on reflection, thought both were better than when this process was done four years ago.
“We had an improvement in candidate quality, which was really great to see,” Yoder said.
Welteroth officially started his position on Dec.15. Councilman Jon Mackey abstained from the vote..
The treasurer/tax collector office is located in the Trade and Transit Centre I building at the corner of Third and Pine streets.
