Students at Williamsport Area High School surpassed their fundraising goal following a student-led Make-A-Wish Benefit Concert held Wednesday evening in the WAHS auditorium.
The family-friendly concert, organized by four student directors and supported by about 40 student volunteer performers, raised $15,370 to benefit Make-A-Wish, exceeding the group’s $15,000 goal. Fundraising efforts will continue through the beginning of the new year.
Two of the student directors, Maddie Fausnaught and Maddie Heller, are former Make-A-Wish recipients who helped lead the event as a way to give back and support local children facing critical illnesses.
The event drew strong community support and reflected months of student planning, rehearsals and outreach. Proceeds from the concert will help Make-A-Wish continue its mission of granting life-changing wishes to children in the region.
