A two-day Christian parenting conference, "From Discipline to Discipleship" will be held at City Church, 36 E. Fourth St., Feb. 6 and 7.
Designed to equip parents, grandparents and caregivers with practical, gospel-rich tools for raising children in today's culture, the conference will feature nationally-recognized speaker and author Marty Machowski, according to a news release from City Church.
Machowski is a "family pastor and longtime ministry leader known for helping parents connect everyday parenting struggles to the hope of the Gospel," the release stated.
The conference will center around Machowski's book, "Parenting First Aid: Hope for the Discouraged," which offers "biblically grounded, practical guidance for moments when parenting feels overwhelming."
"Parents today are under immense pressure. Our heart is to come alongside families with hope, clarity and truth rooted in Scripture. We believe the Gospel doesn't just save us, it shapes how we parent," said Dr. Raphael Mnkandhla, lead pastor at City Church.
"City Church is passionate about equipping parents with Gospel-rich parenting strategies that emphasize grace, truth, and intentional discipleship in the home. The conference aims to encourage parents at every stage, whether thriving, tired, or somewhere in between," Mnkandhla said.
Machowski has authored numerous Gospel-focused resources for families and churches, emphasizing helping parents to move beyond behavior management toward heart-level discipleship, pointing children to Christ in both ordinary moments and moments of crisis, according to information from City Church.
Anyone is welcome to attend the conference which will be held at the church. There is a $30 per person cost which includes a grab-and-go breakfast Saturday morning. There will be no childcare provided for this event.
