City of Williamsport appoints sewage enforcement officer
The City of Williamsport has a sewage enforcement officer and alternate approved for 2026.
John Giacomi is the sewage enforcement officer and Mike McClain is the alternate again for the year, said Bill Scott, city engineer.
The state Department of Environmental Protection requires the city to appoint a sewage enforcement officer and an alternate. Scott received approval for the individuals in a resolution passed by the City Council.
Giacomi works out of Old Lycoming Township and McClain, Hepburn Township, Scott said.
They worked in 2025 as SEO and alternate, respectively.
The agreement is that they are paid a fee of not less than $58 per hour and no more than $60 per hour.
The city has one septic system requiring their service in Elm Park on West Fourth Street across from Memorial Park. Scott remarked how new bathrooms were installed in Elm Park about two weeks ago. The park has undergone extensive renovation in preparation for the spring sports and recreation season.
