ELSD superintendent submits resignation

East Lycoming School District Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Stamm has recently submitted a letter of his voluntary resignation to the board effective June 1.

“Although I have 16 months remaining on my contract, I have made the difficult decision to complete my tenure in the district at the end of this school year,” Stamm stated in his superintendent’s report.

Looking back on 29 years in public education, 15 as a superintendent, serving this community has been “one of the great privileges of my career.”

He lauded the administration and leadership team saying they are some of the most talented professionals he has ever been associated with.

“Together, we have accomplished much, and I am proud of the progress we have made in new curriculum programs, expanded athletic opportunities, improved facilities, and stable finances,” he said.

Beyond this, Stamm noted he was deeply grateful for the opportunity to work alongside faculty, staff, and families who care profoundly about the success of students.

“I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition over the coming months and will work diligently to support continuity in district operations as the board moves forward with seeking its next superintendent . . . thank you for this opportunity to lead your schools and I wish you the very best.”

Heather Burke, district business manager, indicated she would have preliminary budget numbers available at a meeting in March.

Starting at $2.99/week.
