Montoursville school board approves proposal for Lyter Elementary

The Montoursville Area School Board approved a proposal from SitelogIQ Construction Management for the Lyter Elementary School renovation project.

The proposal calls for lump sum monthly payments of $23,820 from the district and outlines services over the timeline of the project beginning in February.

John Brezan, of SitelogIQ explained to the board that his company will oversee the project to ensure various aspects of the pre-construction and construction process are properly done.

“My job is to watch for you guys,” he said.

District Superintendent Dan Taormina said, “We requested John be on this project based on what he’s done before.”

Additions and renovations to Lyter Elementary are expected to take about 20 months.

In other action, the board authorized the superintendent and the director of buildings and grounds to approve change orders related to the Lyter project.

Taormina reported that options continue to be explored regarding new turf for the baseball field.

School directors approved the 2026-2027 high school course catalog.

In personnel matters, the board approved the retirement of school nurse Teresa Hill, effective June 30.

Taormina said Hill will be missed.

“That’s going to be a big loss for us,” he said.

Hill has served in the district for 24 years.

The following hirings were approved by the board:

· Danielle Gephart, building secretary, $17.50 per hour.

· Mackenzie Weaver, guest teacher.

· Adam Aldenderfer, substitute teacher.

· Lydia Krizan, substitute teacher.

The next school board meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10.
