Reported hostage situation draws police presence in Montoursville

Numerous police officers on Tuesday night surrounded the 300 block of Jordan Avenue in Montoursville where a man is reportedly holding a gun to a woman’s head in an apartment .
Officers were dispatched to an apartment house about 9 p.m. to check on the welfare of an individual, according to reports from the scene.
An officer on the scene, perhaps approaching the apartment house, reported that “shots were fired.”
A police Special Response Team was deployed and asked to respond to the scene. A professional negotiator also was requested.
Montoursville fire police were detouring motorists away from the area.
There were reports that some surrounding homes were evacuted with residents exiting their houses through their back doors.
A command post was established nearby.
Besides borough police, officers from Lycoming Regional, Williamsport and state troopers from the barracks were among the many law enforcement on the scene.
As of 10 p.m., there were no reports officially of any injuries.
